An event planner is not always necessary, but they can be essential. If you don’t like planning, have a lot of details and/or a big, unruly family you may want to hire someone to organize, design, and wrangle the troops. When you’re looking at planners consider if you want someone who is more focused on design (artsy, craftsy, creative) or someone who is more focused on the plan (type A, organized).
