Experiential Marketing: What will corporate catering look like in the future?

2017 is off to a great start, and we’re big fans of the recent wave of inquiries from brands that want to “think outside of the box” when seeking out catering for their next event. Here at FIG, we’re not in the business of being boring and our imagination is running wild with awesome ideas to take your corporate event from yawn to YAZZZZOW.

Last Summer, Café Bustelo brought the “essence of the Café Bustelo lifestyle, la vida latina,” to Wicker Park with a multi-day pop-up shop in the heart of this vibrant neighborhood. FIG customized sweet and savory empanadas to be served alongside delicious Bustelo coffee drinks and custom artwork created by Chicago artists.

For many event professionals, catering can be a bit of a stumbling block. Even tax software companies like Avalara are jumping on the experiential marketing bandwagon. FIG customized an interactive cocktail workshop and sustainability talk to spice up their day long presentations for new and existing clients. Guests even received their own bottle of housemade bitters as a take home gift.

Brands big and small are taking risks to make their event experiences stand out. Who could have ever guessed that companies would one day hire services like Radiant Human to photograph event-goer’s auras? True story, and we can’t help but wonder… with activities like this, what will corporate catering become? All I know is that it’s looking much better than a “chocolate-fountain-action-station” and that makes us all warm and fuzzy inside. I mean, who wouldn’t love to customize a menu for an event with an aura photo booth?

The Experiential Marketing Summit will be in Chicago this May and we can’t wait to see what kind of catering concepts are paving the way to meet the needs of these innovative marketers.
